Nate "K-ing"...SWINGS AND MISSES

NATE KAEDING

So here's a guy who was known in college as "Big Game Nate" and/or "Mr. Automatic", because he rarely missed a field goal during his college career. He lived up to the nicknames even in high school by playing in state championship games in three different sports, (basketball, football and soccer) at Iowa City West High School. So he's an athlete.

In his pro career, he has made 150 of 175 attempted Field Goals. Approx 86%. His longest being a 57 yarder. So he's a consistent scorer.

Before this playoff game against the NY Jets, Kaeding had made 20 (that's TWENTY) STRAIGHT field goals to end the regular season. He had connected on an NFL record 69 (that's SIXTY-NINE) STRAIGHT from 40 yards or less. So he's a great kicker. In fact arguably the best kicker this season.
2009 stats:

FG : 32
FGA: 35
Pct: 91

In summary: this guy KNOWS how to kick!

So you mean to tell me he turns into Charlie Brown when the playoffs begin?

I'M NOT BUYING IT!!!

I don't want to hear about "PRESSURE".
The guy is playing AT HOME. In the PLAYOFFS. On a CLEAR sunny day. No MOISTURE on the ground. No CROWD NOISE.
And he FLAT OUT MISSES 3 attempted Field Goals?
No way!
Not only did he miss, but he missed BAD.

ENJOY THIS GAME RECAP:

(And let's NOT take ANYTHING away from this Jets Defense.
They are real and THAT good!)

But let's get back to Kaeding...

These misses lead to these questions:
- Did he miss on purpose?
- Did he have money on the game and blew it?

We can not disregard these questions.
They ned to be answered and investigated.

Some will say, "this isn't the first time he has choked in the playoffs." If that's the case, why is he still playing? Even more of a reason for this to be looked into.

He is employed to do one job and that's to kick field goals. That's it. KICK FIELD GOALS. Which he does so well. That's all he practices all week...
KICKS A FOOTBALL.
That's it!!!

Kaeding was quoted after the game saying, "It's a tough thing to get through but I never feel sorry for myself. I feel sorry for my teammates, my coaches and the support staff for letting them down."

Translation: "I'll act like I feel bad for these football people but as long as I get paid to support my family, I can give two shits! They'll get over it and so will I. Now I need to go collect my bet winnings. See you next season".

I'm not sure what was a more blatant miss.
Kaedings field goal attempts or Jose Offerman's punch...

On your "Mark, McGwire" is set...SHOOT!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
ARE YOU SERIOUS?

COME ON MAC, YOUR ADMISSION IS A JOKE!
Granted you have admitted what everyone had suspected, but you didn't GO ALL THE WAY WITH THE TRUTH.
And that's the sad part of this entire thing.

So let me get this straight...

This:

Turned into this:

And it wasn't to enhance your performance, but to stay healthy?

Say what you want about Jose Canseco (and we all know damn well that he exaggerated his stories to sell books) but he's telling us the TRUTH.
He broke the "steroid era wall of silence" and there's no denying that.

If he tells us that he shot you up in a locker bathroom stall, I'm sorry, I'm going to believe it.
Why? Because this:
"THE BASH BROTHERS"
Meant everything to you and your image.

You guys spent "x" amount of time together, enjoying each others company, and you didn't shoot up together?

BULLSH^%$!!!

You were enjoying the life and everything that came with it.

You are a classic drug addict. Always in denial.
Even when you decide to tell the truth, you end up lying cause you can't come to terms with yourself.

You go on a baseball network to sit and "discuss" your use of steroids, put on a show, and still LIE.
THAT is disturbing. Disgusting. And Sad.

Some say, "At least he's telling us the truth".
Grow up and stop being ignorant.

He had no choice to do it if he wanted to come back into baseball.
He had to admit it so he can get people to feel sorry for him and possibly get some sympathy votes for the Hall.
One last shot at saving his image.
The "woe is me" theory.
SAVE IT! US FANS DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT.

The only Hall you belong in is the
"Baseball Hall of Shame"!

I ask you (the reader) this, what separates McGwire from Pete Rose?
My answer, "Nothing". They are CHEATERS.

So if Charlie Hustle is banned from baseball, so should everyone else who cheated.
That's the bottom line!
They have no integrity for the game.

I will say this, at least Rose PLAYED the game the way it was meant to be played...
ALL OUT and PURE.

McGwire SHOULD NOT be allowed back into baseball.
Set the standard and move forward.

The one thing Alex Rodriguez has going for him, the thing that separates him from all the other cheaters, is that he's STILL PLAYING!
He's young and has time to play the game.
Time to prove that he can be a great player without the steroids/performance enhancers.

BUT the one constant that we will ALWAYS remember, is that at one point in his career he "CHEATED".
His legacy will forever be tainted.
Just like all of the others that played in the Steroid Era.

Watching McGwire with Costas in that MLB Network interview reminded me of the great line in A Few Good Men...

"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH"!

And that is the only thing you proved to us McGwire.

This face says it all...
