He lived up to the nicknames even in high school by playing in state championship games in three different sports, (basketball, football and soccer) at Iowa City West High School. So he's an athlete.

In his pro career, he has made 150 of 175 attempted Field Goals. Approx 86%. His longest being a 57 yarder. So he's a consistent scorer.

Before this playoff game against the NY Jets, Kaeding had made 20 (that's TWENTY) STRAIGHT field goals to end the regular season. He had connected on an NFL record 69 (that's SIXTY-NINE) STRAIGHT from 40 yards or less. So he's a great kicker. In fact arguably the best kicker this season.

2009 stats:

FG : 32

FGA: 35

Pct: 91

In summary: this guy KNOWS how to kick!

So you mean to tell me he turns into Charlie Brown when the playoffs begin?

I'M NOT BUYING IT!!!

I don't want to hear about "PRESSURE".

The guy is playing AT HOME. In the PLAYOFFS. On a CLEAR sunny day. No MOISTURE on the ground. No CROWD NOISE.

And he FLAT OUT MISSES 3 attempted Field Goals?

No way!

Not only did he miss, but he missed BAD.

ENJOY THIS GAME RECAP:

(And let's NOT take ANYTHING away from this Jets Defense.

They are real and THAT good!)

But let's get back to Kaeding...

These misses lead to these questions:

- Did he miss on purpose?

- Did he have money on the game and blew it?

We can not disregard these questions.

They ned to be answered and investigated.

Some will say, "this isn't the first time he has choked in the playoffs." If that's the case, why is he still playing? Even more of a reason for this to be looked into.

He is employed to do one job and that's to kick field goals. That's it. KICK FIELD GOALS. Which he does so well. That's all he practices all week...

KICKS A FOOTBALL.

That's it!!!

Kaeding was quoted after the game saying, "It's a tough thing to get through but I never feel sorry for myself. I feel sorry for my teammates, my coaches and the support staff for letting them down."

Translation: "I'll act like I feel bad for these football people but as long as I get paid to support my family, I can give two shits! They'll get over it and so will I. Now I need to go collect my bet winnings. See you next season".

I'm not sure what was a more blatant miss.

Kaedings field goal attempts or Jose Offerman's punch...

BLOG OUT!

On your "Mark, McGwire" is set...SHOOT!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
ARE YOU SERIOUS?

COME ON MAC, YOUR ADMISSION IS A JOKE!

Granted you have admitted what everyone had suspected, but you didn't GO ALL THE WAY WITH THE TRUTH.

And that's the sad part of this entire thing.

So let me get this straight...

This:

Turned into this:

And it wasn't to enhance your performance, but to stay healthy?

Say what you want about Jose Canseco (and we all know damn well that he exaggerated his stories to sell books) but he's telling us the TRUTH.

He broke the "steroid era wall of silence" and there's no denying that.

If he tells us that he shot you up in a locker bathroom stall, I'm sorry, I'm going to believe it.

Why? And Sad.

Some say, "At least he's telling us the truth".

Grow up and stop being ignorant.

He had no choice to do it if he wanted to come back into baseball.

He had to admit it so he can get people to feel sorry for him and possibly get some sympathy votes for the Hall.

One last shot at saving his image.

The "woe is me" theory.

SAVE IT! They are CHEATERS.

So if Charlie Hustle is banned from baseball, so should everyone else who cheated.

That's the bottom line!

They have no integrity for the game.

I will say this, at least Rose PLAYED the game the way it was meant to be played...

ALL OUT and PURE.

McGwire SHOULD NOT be allowed back into baseball.

Set the standard and move forward.

The one thing Alex Rodriguez has going for him, the thing that separates him from all the other cheaters, is that he's STILL PLAYING!

He's young and has time to play the game.

Time to prove that he can be a great player without the steroids/performance enhancers.

BUT the one constant that we will ALWAYS remember, is that at one point in his career he "CHEATED".

His legacy will forever be tainted.

Just like all of the others that played in the Steroid Era.

Watching McGwire with Costas in that MLB Network interview reminded me of the great line in A Few Good Men...

"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH"!

And that is the only thing you proved to us McGwire.

This face says it all...

BLOG OUT!

PUTTING "*" IN THE SEATS

It was all about the owners and MLB putting AS"*"S back in the seats!
Yes my friends that's what this is all about...MONEY!!!

Here's my story and I'm sticking to it...

In 1994 MLB went on a strike. It was the 8th work stoppage in baseball history, 4th "in-season" work stoppage in 23 years. It was a 232-day strike from Aug 12, 1994 - April 2nd, 1995. The cancellation of regular season games including the entire 1994 postseason and World Series.

The cancellation of the 1994 World Series was the 1st since 1904.

MLB became the 1st professional sport to lose its entire postseason due to a labor dispute.

...(never happened)

So here's some of the "downfall" from that strike:

- The Montreal Expos had their best season in their history. Best record in baseball 74-40 and 6 gms ahead of the Braves in the NL East.

- Frank Thomas (White Sox) won the AL & MVP awards, a career year which he was unable to complete.

- Tony Gwynn had a chance to finish the season with a .400 batting avg (ended .394)

- Matt Williams (Giants) had a chance to beat Maris' HR record of 61 (had 43) Steroids???

- Carlos Baerga (Indians) was unable to extend his record 2-yr streak of 20 HR's, 200 hits, and 100 RBI's by a 2nd baseman

- Griffey Jr (Mariners) led the AL with 40 HR's

- Donnie Baseball (Yankees) lost out on any hope to play in the post season for the 1st time in his 13 yr career.

What does this all mean?

It had an effect on all the FANS of baseball. They were upset, disappointed, outraged, but most of all WE were HURT! If you recall, the fans pretty much were boycotting baseball.

They refused to go to games. We were "locked out"!

Baseball needed something! They needed an "injection".

Something to get the *'s back in the seats.

They needed to generate revenue somehow, someway. They needed us "the fans" to spend our money so they (the owners, the union, the players) can make their money.

We pay for them to earn and entertain us. And that's exactly what happened.

1995: Enter BALCO, HGH, Steroids, performance enhancers, and whatever else was needed to bring the fans back. Get the game back on the map.

Some highlights from each year 1995-2005 (testing and strict punishment for banned substance usage began in 2005).

1995:

- Ripken breaks Gehrig's consecutive games played record

- Red Sox win 1st place AL East (Yanks end 2nd place 7 gms behind but are the wild card)

- Indians win the AL, Braves win the NL

- Braves are the CHAMPS

1996:

- Mattingly retires, Torre becomes Manager, Yankees dynasty begins

- MVP's AL Juan Gonzalez (Rangers), Ken Caminiti (Padres)- both on Mitchell Report for performance enhancing drugs

- Alex Rodriguez (Mariners) best batting avg AL .358

- McGwire (A's) led AL with 52 HR's and Galarraga (Rockies) NL with 47

- Albert Belle (Indians) 148 RBI's

- Andy Pettitte (Yanks) AL wins 21, John Smoltz (Braves) NL with 24

- Roger Clemens (Red Sox) SO's 257

1997:

- Marlins defeat the Indians in the WS (google some of the players on these rosters, you will not be surprised)

1998:

- Yankees defeat the Padres in the WS (google these rosters too)

- Expansion- welcome Arizona and Tampa Bay (30 teams)

- MVP's AL J Gonzalez (Rangers) and NL Sammy Sosa (Cubs)

1999:

- Yankees sweep Braves

- MVP's Pudge Rodriguez (Rangers) and Chipper Jones (Braves)

- McGwire ends with 65 HR's, Sosa with 63

2000:

-The year of the LONG BALL (Enough said)

- Subway Series!!! Canseco went public and broke the steroid wall of silence. Now we have the Mitchell Report, the trainer's (Rodomski/McNamee) "tell all" books, the Bonds stories, and everything else...but NOW, NOW we have the big fish, the face of baseball, the poster child, the future of MLB...

Alex Rodriguez failing a steroid test in 2003.

This was suppose to be kept confidential. Nothing is ever kept a secret. It always comes out. Stories always leak because people love controversy.

If this is in fact true (which reports claim that they are), this makes him a cheater just like all the rest. There is no difference. Not in 3-5 years.

Does Marbury have issues?

He probably does... Anyone who gets his logo tattooed on the side of his cabeza is a little deranged.

I bet right now he wished he was still with this guy...

BUT, we gotta give credit when credit is due...

Marbury has been a soldier throughout this entire ordeal. He has done what has been asked of him. He hasn't bitched to the media. He practices with the team and has "willingly" given up his spot. He's been a team player (as crazy as that sounds). He has also given back to the community. What other "Star" athlete sells his sneakers for $15.00?

While you have him and you are paying him, PLAY HIM!

The guy, HANDS DOWN, is the BEST athlete/player on this team.

He's in the final season of his contract. Use him for all he's worth this year and then let him walk.

He was born and raised in New York. At least let him go out with some dignity.

He claims he wants to WIN in NY, I believe him.

Give him the opportunity to prove it under this "D'Antoni system"- the "7 seconds or less", the "run and gun", the "west coast offense", the "3-4 pass and shoot", the WHO GIVES A SHIT! the "system" hasn't won a Championship and at the end of the day, that's what your judged on!

Maybe Marbury simply don't give a crap. He's getting his money and chillin.

Wouldn't we all want a job like that?

Stephon Marbury may just leave NY like this...

Blog out...

n O.J ustice

Did O.J. commit the murder of Nicole Smith and Ronald Goldman?

Based on the evidence, motive, and his whereabouts during the time of the crime...most likely. But as a matter of fact, he was acquitted after a lengthy trial.

Bottom line: NOT GUILTY.

We all know what transpired thereafter and what the results were from the civil trial.

Now we have this:

<img vspace="3" src="http://WIVB.images.worldnow.com/images/9129599_BG1.jpg" width="180" alt="Convicted of kidnapping, armed robbery, and ten other charges, O.J. O.J. may spend the rest of his life in jail.

Was this a set-up???

Highlander #30 says: Absolutely, no doubt about it.

O.J. and his team of lawyers led by the late Johnny Cochran made a mockery of our judicial system. The famous, "if it don't fit you must acquit" line worked like a charm.

Cochran proved beyond a reasonable doubt that his client was innocent.

Plenty of people feel he got away with murder.

Others feel he didn't commit the murder.

Did O.J. feel he was above the law?

Possibly.

Did he think he was bigger than life?

Maybe

The sad part (that no one is talking about) is the fact that these two kids are now living their lives with neither one of their parents.

Let's not forget about that.

One last thing on O.J:

Get the man on something with more juice (no pun intended). This is a joke.

What will be more a joke is if some how some way, O.J. can get himself out of this one.

He will then once again have the last laugh.

The only problem, none of this is a laughing matter.

Blog out....

Highlander # 30
